Hey, y'all. I have an older 7400, .30-06, that developed a FTE before hunting season last year. While at the range I ran a bore snake thru it and it FTE'd the very next round. Never did straighten itself out. Sometimes it would eject when manually using the slide but many times it did not.

I thought maybe I created a burr in the chamber but after cleaning it at home it still will not eject when manually trying the eject the round.

I've read elsewhere that it may not be worth repairing but since I don't know what is wrong I can't make a decision. Gunsmiths around here a few and far between.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Not sure about this model specifically but did you look at the extractor? is it becoming rounded or does the spring tension appear to be slacking?
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.-Ronald Reagan

I need to dig it back out of the safe and look at it real well. Probably not a good idea to bring in to the shop so I need to take my magnifying glass home with me.
