Remington Arms Company is recalling some of its Model 700 and Model 7 rifles with X-Mark Pro triggers.

Owners of rifles manufactured between 01 May 06 and 09 April 14 are urged to stop using those rifles immediately and determine if they are subject to the recall.

“With about 5.3 million Model 700′s alone out in the wild since its debut in 1962, we can estimate Big Green sold an average of 100,000 rifles per year. With an 8 year recall window, rough (very rough) math tells us there could be as many as 800,000 rifles subject to this recall. That seems like a lot, but the Model 700 has been an extremely popular rifle.

The trouble, according to Remington’s product notification, is that excess bonding agent used in the assembly of the X-Mark Pro trigger in some rifles can lead to unintentional discharge of the rifles. Remington says the only remedy is to send recalled rifles in for inspection, cleaning and testing. They stress that consumers shouldn’t try to clean the triggers themselves.”

Yup. Owned my 700 ADL Stainless for about two weeks now, shot great at the range last weekend, and now its on it's way back to the factory to sort out this trigger mess. Hope they get it back quickly to me...I miss it already. Lol.

My wife bought me a Model 700 .270 for Christmas, I ordered a Nikon Prostaff scope and its due here tomorrow and the rifle has not even seen one shell down the barrel as it is brand new. Talk about PO'd.

An update: I called Remington on Thursday about my Model 700 stainless ADL, and they had just received it that morning, and the nice lady there gave me a rework number that I can track the repair process on the trigger. She said it would be there about a week, then get shipped back to the store where I bought it from. They were nice enough to ship it back for free for me, the store that is. So, hoping I see it within the next week and a half! Lord knows I miss it.

Remingtontoter, how long did it take for Remington to send you pre-paid shipping tags, boxes and written instructions? It's been two weeks since I submitted my serial number and I haven't received them yet. Just the email stating don't send it back until you receive this information.

Well, they sent the box about a week after I contacted them. I had talked to the store, where I bought it, the next day. They told me they would send it in with the others they had in stock, if I got it back to them right away...so, I had it there the next morning. I did not use the box Remington had sent me.

I'm sending mine back, as soon as i get the box and shipping from Remi. But i wonder , really how many forum members have had problems with there triggers.Every time I read about a 700 with the new trigger, I always hear good results, never premature fireing. How many of you have had the problem with the new trigger. That's going back a few yrs. :?:

Rem. emailed me the shipping tags a week ago and it sounds like I'm still waiting for a box. I received a letter from the LGS I bought my rifle from and it says along with the tags that Rem will send a "box". Are they sending out shipping boxes or am I waiting in vain?

Well, an update. I am being as patient as I can, but I am starting to get a little frustrated on the progress of getting this trigger thing done on my rifle. On Tuesday, this coming, they will have had my rifle for 3 weeks now. I have contacted them each week, with my work order number, and I find out that they have the rifle in house, but have not done anything with it yet. I was told it could take up to 6 weeks more for them to get this done.

Now, I understand they have a ton of rifles to get done, but as a customer this is not my issue. As a manufacturer, it is theirs. I am still being polite on the phone, but am tired of some dude telling me of how I need to be patient about this. A few weeks is no problem, but 9 weeks (possible) total? Not good.

Hopefully this is just a standard answer they are giving out, just to cover their bases, and not a real time frame. I will keep you all posted as to what happens.

Hi, I received the box from Remi last week. Shipped it out last Monday, I received a e-mail that they received it already. From what I understand it could be done in 3-6 weeks.

No. This Tuesday, it will be 5 weeks that they have had mine "in house". We will see if it makes the 6 week time frame that they gave you. Dog-gonet I hope so! Even the other guns in the safe are asking what the heck is going on. Lol.

Called Remington today, and they still have not worked on my rifle yet. They have had it at their factory for five weeks now. If they get it done in six, I'll be surprised.

I've been waiting for over a month for return materials. From another forum I learned some return requests were lost, apparently mine was included. After replying to the email today I have another service request to add to my collection (I already returned my R51 pistol).

I was tempted to just buy an aftermarket trigger, but I really hate to spend any more money on a rifle I have never had the pleasure of firing.

X2, Every thing I hear about the new Remi co. Scares me. When and if I get it back, I'll check the rifle out. Right now it seems like a new Savage or a Ruger might be in the futhure. :|

Was wondering if anyone has one of there rifles returned yet, They have 3 of mine, and in a couple of days it will be 2 months. In fact one of them I haven't even received a formal notification that they have it, I was concerned and called about it, they said it was there but still failed to send me an assigned number so I can check on it. I'm beginning to think this is going to be a really big SNAFU. :x

They've had mine for four weeks. The paperwork said 2-3 week turnaround time. I emailed them the other day and didn't receive a response. What phone number did you call to speak to someone? I called and got a recording.

I brought 2 of mine back to the Ilion plant on 4/14, and the guard filled out the paperwork. He told me what he knew about the recall but couldn't give me any idea when they would be returned. Then I discovered that I had a third rifle that also needed to go back. I had the 3rd one taken care of by UPS. That one went to a warehouse in Little Falls. So I'm guessing there are thousands upon thousands of rifles being returned, so I doubt we'll be seeing our rifles anytime soon. I was hoping to see if anyone had any of there rifles returned yet. But I guess that was just wishful thinking.

Posted this somewhere else, might have got moved or deleted by a moderator, but I called Remington on 6/11, and they have moved my rifle from the "received" status to the "work rack" status. They have had my rifle, in house, for seven weeks now. The guy I talked with on the phone told me a no BS assessment was at least another three weeks, maybe four at the most. Hang in there fellas, they got us by the "short hairs" on this one. :(
