I really have to hand it to big green for giving us lefties some choices on firearms. When I go back through the list of what I've owned and what I still have the list is pretty varied.

All left handed;

788 6mm
This was truly a RH action with a LH bolt. Accurate as all get out but that danged clip kept falling out or the bolt would work it's way up and when I wanted it to bang it wouldn't.

700ADL 270
According to the records this was a non-catalogued run from '88 or '89 I don't remember anymore. It came from the factory with matte finished metal and now sits in a McMillan mountain rifle stock.

700BDL 270
Standard run of the mill but probably my favorite.

700BDL 7mm Rem mag
Everyone has to have one don't they?

700BDL 6.5mm Rem mag
Found this one used. It started out as a 7mag but whoever rechambered it used a factory barrel. I took it antelope hunting for a few years but never warmed up to it.

700BDL 22-250
I'm not sure how many ways you can spell sweet but sweet it is.

700SPS 223
What a prarie dog getter this one is. It needs a better scope than I have on it.

Now I've owned lefties made by Sako and Savage but big green tops them in volume.
Thank you Remington from an old tried and true lefty.

interestingly...I'm also a left handed shooter...but I prefer a right handed bolt action. I like being able to keep my "trigger hand" where it belongs and cycle the bolt with my "free" hand. I am, however, right handed for everything but shooting(I can swap but prefer left)...it just feels more "natural" utilizing my bipod while prone to pop off a few rounds. it feels like I can very quickly and efficiently chamber round after round while reacquiring my target accurately...in fact...the only thing that really moves in the whole process is my right arm working the bolt...largely due to the fact that it's a 700 ADL chambered in .223 and there is no recoil...but still...I was able to discharge 5 rounds in about 10-15 seconds at 100 yards with a 1.5" group.

anyway...just food for thought from another "lefty"...

Not a 700 but I picked up a gorgeous M70 LH classic stainless in 7mag for a price that screamed take me home. It now rests with it's 700 bretheran.

I'm not left or right handed as I do things with each. But I do shoot my rifles/SGs left handed. All my firearms are right handed until I brought home a LH 700 SPS 243 yesterday. My Dad had an old 222 back in the days until my a-hole ex brother-in-law sold it. So I haven't shot a bolt since I was a kid. Was planning on getting a 700 30-06 (and still may) when this one popped up. Looks brand new and appears to never have been fired.

Playing with the bolts on both a RH and LH model, the LH just felt better and easier to manipulate. Ill get it out to the range here shortly as soon as I mount a scope and grab some ammo..

I'm going to guess that you'll love it. Once you've cracked the ice with your first lefty, you'll scour every used rack around for more. Good luck and good hunting - Both game and guns!

I am a lefty but I do very few things left handed. I had never owned or handled a lefty, bolt gun until recently and then it was a sure thing. I ended up buying a 1996 700 BDL DM LH as my first bolt gun and it is in excellent condition. This was not the rifle I was originally looking for but I couldn't pass it up. I probably payed a little more for it but I am happy with my purchase, she's a beauty. Does anyone know how many of these were produced?

I've owned most of the long action LH M700's, .270, 30-06 and 7mm Mag. but haven't had any luck finding many short action models. My dream gun would be a left hand Model 7 in .260 or 7mm-08. I got this LH Varmint in .308 last fall and so far have upgraded it with a H-S stock and Timney trigger. I had been wanting a .243 for years, but couldn't find a LH bolt, so I bought this Remington R-25 in .243. It has been getting prairie dogs the last few weeks out beyond 300 yards.

Interestingly enough, when my wife started to hunt with me I bought her a RH 788 7-08 and as she shoots left handed as well wrote Remington and asked about such a gun. I too think a model 7 in 260 or 7-08 would make a perfect rifle for a lady or young shooter, or even an old guy like me that just likes to shoot. Rem wrote back that it wasn't in the cards but to look for short action 700's which I did. I still think a LH 7 would be cream on a cat's lip.

What kind of money are you seeing folks ASKING for used CDL's? Or, better yet, what kind of money are they transacting at? Never having bought one or priced even a new one I haven't the slightest. I see a used '06 that a LGS is asking $725 for and I'm thinking that's on the high end. Your thoughts?
