OK, so Remington will allegedly offer in .40 S&W ("eventually"), right? Because most of the time converting a .40 S&W to .357 SIG is just a bbl swap (and maybe a spring), will Rem. offer a conversion bbl or a straight up .357 SIG option for the R51?

I've avoided buying a .357 SIG to this point but that's a combination I'd totally purchase.

I could see it happening. If they're offering a .40 S&W .357 sig wouldn't require any major cost in retooling etc.

The only problem would be selling it. Would the typical .357 sig crowd go for an R51 or stay vehemently loyal to the guns/brands they already swear by?

Good question. I dunno. But I'd plunk down money. I suppose that my one, single, purchase wouldn't be enough to support the line. :)

If you look at the dimensions of the mag well, the same frame could be used for 9mm, 40S&W and .357 SIG. Possibly evne .45ACP. Certainly a shortened .45 like .45GAP (.45RAP?). All it would required is swapping slide/barrel assembly and proper mags.

Remington is saying that they intend to bring out a .40S&W. Most .357 Sig. guns are swappable to .40S&W, which is why I invited speculation.

Considering the way the Pedersen breech operates. and only locks the breech when out of battery, I don't think the action would be particularly friendly to bottleneck cases. The unlocked breech at ignition would probably allow pressure to blowout the case shoulder. It would probably work, but would reduce case life for reloaders.
