I am having some issues with my new R-25 .243 rifle and am trying to figure out what my next step(s) should be. Before firing, I disassembled the rifle and cleaned/lubed per the directions in the manual. I have mounted a new Nikon 4-16 BDC scope using their M-223 mount. I did use a bit of locktight on the screws and both the base and rings appear to be secure. There are a couple of issues which may or may not be related.
1. Unable to accurately sight in the rifle - I initially bore-sighted the rifle/scope and then headed to the range and was able to sight in the rifle at 25/50/100 yds. I adjusted the sight-in to just over an inch high at 100 yds. as my goal is a 200 yd. zero. I then shot a few at 200 yds. and was about two feet low. I repeated the sight-in process at 25/50/100 yds and then went back to 200 yds. I was now shooting high and right by about 6" each. I adjusted about 8 clicks down and left which should have put me closer to center, but still a few inches high and right. My next few shots were totally off the paper at this point. The scope is not loose. I understand this could be a defective scope, but are there any parts of the rifle which could be loose/not adjusted properly which could yield similar results? I was shooting from a gun vise, but did pick up and move the rifle around between adjustments. It seemed that I would get it somewhat sighted in and then move the gun and be way off.
2. Hand guard loose/tightened. Now unable to loosen. - The hand guard loosened up while I was shooting and I went ahead and tightened it back up, by hand. Now I can't budge it. I'm guessing the barrel was hot from shooting and when I tightened it back up and it then cooled off it is now "locked" on. It is also tightened too much now as the camo pattern doesn't match and my bipod is not level. Once I get it back to normal, how do I keep it aligned properly so the bipod is level and the camo matches, but not have it loosen up? Is there any chance this is affecting my accuracy issues?
3. Does not always chamber the next round. - I would guess this is a magazine issue, but it happens with certain ammo much more than others. For example, Federal 100 grain power-shock and Remington 100 grain core-lock happen often. Hornady 95 grain SST seems to always work. I have disassembled the magazine and cleaned it. This did help, but not solve the issue.
4. Occasionally jams loading round. - This happened twice in about 50 rounds. The old round did eject, but the new round only got about half way into the chamber then got hung up. The new round ended up with dented brass which made it unusable.
Sorry for the lengthy post. I'm just now sure if I have a scope issue and/or a rifle issue. I don't know if this is something I can fix by taking it apart and cleaning/lubing or if it needs to go to Remington for a repair.

Dear Anyone
I just bought brand new R25 with caliber .308win and at very first shot there was bullet case jam problem and was not auto-loading next bullet. So cleaned lubed everything as described in owners manual. Then i checked again, and it seems that there was no more problem with case jam and case was freely throws away. But it can not auto load next bullet. what is the problem? Can anyone help me? |
