We have been watch and reading on this pistol for 8 weeks. We ordered one on January 3rd I think, long before the dealer or wholesaler new what it was but my dealer was on the order list for one. My wife picked it up twp days ago and paid $357.28 at our general store. The serial number was a 10 digit 00049XXr51 . I dis-assembled it and clean'd up what looked like lithium grease and darn little oil . It cleaned up good with no trash or burs in it and relubed with pro gold grease on the bolt assembly, bolt lug and barrel zero frition lube on the rails and spring collar. I don't have a good place to shoot at home but fired 3 mags of 124gr +P ammo and had no issues. Yesterday I went to a indoor range and ran 200 rounds thru it again with no problems. Good sights for me. Larger front sight that fills the rear well and with a large while dot. Trigger to me is not a single action trigger. More like a short pull striker trigger. It has a light take up of about 3/16" and a total of 6lb+ or - 4 oz pull with about just short of a 1/8" pull to fire. IT feels better to me than some than are lighter in pull weight. I still want to shoot 200 more rounds of fmj and then a hundred HP and then if still all is well with its function and metal work where the bolt rubs on aluminum my wife can decide if she will carry it.

It is easy to shoot accurately for me. I carry kahrs and for me the grip safety is not an issue as I am use to holding kahr tightly. Tightly enough I had the grip panels pattern embosed into my finger tips for an hour after shooting was done. Got to try the rubber grip inserts.

Size of the pistol is a 1/2" longer than a cw9 kahr and basically the same height but the grip is longer , slide area shorter so it offers a better higher grip. Distance from the front of the grip to the nose of the r51 is the same as a cw9kahr. The extra 1/2" OAL is at the rear section of the slide. Width is the same. Think enclosed beavertaiil. You would really have to screw up to get slide bite.

Thanks for the Kahr comparison pics. I carry a Kahr PM9 most times and have been very intrested in the R51. I see someone on this site has had some issues with his trigger rubbing the frame and some mag drop issues. That's pretty impressive that you put quite a few rounds through it with no problems. It took a trip back to Kahr and some breaking in for my PM9 to be reliable.

If a person is having trigger rubbing issues they are applying sideway pressure and need to work on there trigger control. Mags dropping?? The mags unlike with our kahrs fit very cleanly with the bottom of the grip frame. They do have a a little wiggle left that the mag can be pushed up to be sure its locked in to be sure but for me I see no more problem with the R51 than any new to you handgun could have.

Now I like the R51 but I carry kahrs for a bit different reason. First we know they work well and unlike other brands I can go from a pocket sized cm/pm pistol to cw/p series for a small iwb easy to conceal pistol up to a tp or t sized for a easy to shoot commander sized pistol and not have to learn a new handgun. Everything feel and functions the same from the frame angle to width to the trigger pull and all light weight. As a 26 year long CC'n having a consistency between your rotation means a lot to me . The kahr may not do everthing great but they serve my needs very well and will not change what I carry.

The R51 is my wifes choice as her new cc and it looks to be a good choice.

Not the problem this time. The mags were securely locked in. The problem you describe with not seating mags properly is pretty common with some .22LR handguns to, such as my Beretta NEOS. I learned how to properly seat flush-fit mags.

Mine will be a good CC option too once Remington fixes this little snafu.

Just got back from the range to finish up the break in and I am pleased with how it went. Pulled the slide to clean again and no wear . No issues at all. Fired a box of 50 speer 124gr +P thru it too. Guess its ready for my wife to carry.
