I have a model 700 6mm that was left to me by my grandfather (lots of good memories with this rifle). I have not been able to find satisfactory results on an approximate age of this gun. Using the serial number lookup I found on this site, it seems to be 1951. On the barrel, separate from the serial number, it is stamped
9 xx 56. So by the xx, I thought it was 1951, but the 6mm wasnt produced until later than `51. Can someone please help. There are no other letters in the serial number. Thanks.
