Bought my M887 tactical yesterday and went off to the range today after cleaning it that is.
I read a lot about the forend being need be pushed forward otherwise it would strike the primer to softly. My bolt also does not sit flush forward however no issues when firing today in that respect.
I did however encounter a bizarre issue that I cannot seem to find via Google. Basically during the first 20 or so rounds I could push the safety bar too far in or out resulting in failure to fire. I would have to then put the gun back on to safety then back off to be able to fire it otherwise the trigger would not budge. If I pushed the safety too far in and back out again, the rifle would not fire.
One other question, does the front tactical clamp have to be used or can one fire the rifle without?
Anyone heard of this before? See below pic, in one of them you can see the bar clearly too far outward.
