I have a newer 700 and it will fail to fire after about 30 rounds after the bolt has been removed, the firing pin taken out and cleaned. I noticed that the newer rifle's firing pin spring goes the full length of the firing pin where on the older 700 there is a stop on the firing pin shaft that does not allow the spring to cover the full length of the firing pin shaft. Have the newer 700s been changed or has the (retainer) slipped? Anyone know about this??
