Picked up a 20 ga LT special today barrel code is 1984. Were these guns with the straight English stock sold with 21 inch barrels only or did they come with different ones also? This one has a 28 inch barrel on it and I am wondering if someone just changed it out even though the thing looks like it has had less than a box run through it.

As I recall, they came with 21inch barrels. Same as the 870.

In 1983, Remington introduced the new Model 1100 "Special Field" shotgun in 12 and 20 gauges with a checkered straight-grip, English-style stock and 21" vent rib barrels in three field chokes.
They did not come with longer barrels, so yours was added, which was not unusual. Does it have screw in chokes or is it fixed? We have done so much for so long with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing!
