Wanted to add this new better pic. Zeroed in tack driver now at 200 with my 6-32*50 Sniper scope (Chinese, I'm loving it) please no "It's not a Leupold" comments.

Already know that. Added a 20MOA base and the one piece scope mount is far better that I was using before.

I just picked up this pretty little oddity yesterday, the guy at the shop said it was an sps varmint, but it has the 20" barrel with the threaded muzzle in a 1/10 twist with lt tactical stamped on the barrel. I can't seem to find it anywhere on the Remington site or any solid information through Google but I like the hell out of it.

I picked up a Remington 700 CDL Boone and Crockett Club gun in .30-06 the other day. It is in awesome shape, has the fluted barrel, brown laminate stock, and the B&C Club grip cap. I installed an EGW 15MOA base with Burris XTR 30mm rings and my Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16X42 scope.

I had a VLS in .308 several years ago. Why I did not buy it in .223 I'll never know. I would probably still have it if I did get it in .223. It was an absolutely gorgeous rifle.

Newbie here. Bought my Model 700 ADL in 30-06 back in 84. Remember reading where Rem. made changes to the ADL line back around 83 with satin finish, slimmed down pistol grip, sling swivel studs, and the safety. Gun has functioned flawlessly all these years and is accurate. Best high polish bluing of all guns I own. Only paid $325 back then. Gonna hold onto this one.

I love my 700 as well. I've only had it about 6 months, but I can see it's going to be a favorite.

Hi guys, new to your board and have a question for you. I own a M700 in .308 that i bought around twenty years ago,and i can't remember some specifics about the rifle. At the time i bought it,a friend who owned a local gun shop called me and asked me come see him. When i got their he said he had a surprise he wanted me to check out.Turns out a police dept had ordered a certain number of tactical rifles to upgrade their arsenal, but when the rifles were ready for pickup, they didn't have enough funds to pick them up.Anyway,i ended up with two of them, and gave one to my new brother inlaw for a wedding gift.(my little sister got a tricked out ruger mkll with bull barrell and custom grips) anyway, the rifles have synthetic heavy contour stocks,26" fluted heavy barrells and are all blacked out. The bolt is diamond, polished.the trigger is very light and breaks like glass, lighter than my 5 lb trigger on my other 700.It has a hinged floor plate, but i cant seem to figure out the exact model, sorry about the long post, and the only thing i can figure is since they went through the Remington custom shop as per the police dept orded, maybee their is no specific name besides some sort of custom tactical? thanks and i look forward too your opinions. (by the way,i am recovering from a series of strokes so please forgive any ignorant remarkes i may make.)

Surely would be interested in seeing a picture. 20 years ago? YMMV. FROM WIKIPEDIA:
"The 700P series appears to have been influenced by the designs, features, and success of the M24 Sniper Weapon System and the M40 series, with one feature of the Model 700P series being the heavier and thicker barrel for increased accuracy and reduced recoil. The rifle was chambered for .308 Winchester cartridge as well as the .223 Remington, .243 Winchester, 7 mm Remington Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum, .300 Remington Ultra Magnum, and .338 Lapua Magnum. The 700P has a 26" barrel, an aluminium block bedded in its stock, which is made by HS Precision.
The police version (700P) is also marketed to private citizens and is very popular with shooters and hunters who like the "government issue" appearance as well as the handling and accuracy. There are two main models of the 700P – the standard 700P with a 26" heavy barrel and the 700P Light Tactical Rifle (LTR) which has a 20" fluted heavy barrel..."
The jeweled bolt doesn't make sense for L.E. (OEM) and indicates Varmint. IMHO.

You could possibly send Remington the SN to see if they have it in their records.

First post, first Remington 700. Mines a .22-250 Varmit rifle. Other than that I couldn't tell you what model it is. It has a black 26" barrel, a green/black fiberglass stock but only one swivel mount on the front. I'll get some pics posted this weekend. I mounted a Nikon 4-12X40 Prostaff. Needs to be sighted in now.

Apparently I am the orphan here. I made a big trade which included a Remington 700 in .280 with a Burris 4x-16x-44 scope.

Son gave me a Remington 700 in .243 with a scope for Christmas. Yep. Good kid. (I think he knew I was working on my will.)

Took both to the range yesterday. Really like them both. Winds were gusting to 20mph + at times so we all were working hard to get the rounds on target at 100 and 200 yards.

I think these two are keepers. Even at $1.30 to $1.45 a round for the .280.
