Hello everyone good to be here. I recently purchased a Remington 870 police. It has maybe 8 rounds through it. The other day I noticed the wooden cob style forend was crooked. I took the barrel off to see the forend was cracked on the inside. I called Remington and they said it shouldn't be like that and they were sending me a new one free of charge. So I thought that was great of them. In the mean time a buddy of mine offered to give me his stock and forend set from his 870 express free. Which was great because I wanted to install the black furniture anyway. Here is where I have a little problem.

I installed the Express forend without a problem, I put the express stock on, It screwed on with out issue, But when I look at the stock it doesn't seat perfectly. The bottom part does, near the trigger. But on the top area, where the stock and receiver meet. the stock sits high. like a tiny cliff. not a lot. but noticeable. I tightened it enough, I removed the plate that the wood stock uses. I also used the bolt that comes with the express. So what could be the problem? I would order the Police synthetic stock, But don't want to shell out the money if its not gonna fit right. Is the 870 Express synthetic stock different from the 870 Police synthetic stock? Only mod the shotgun has is the larger safety. Its not in the way or anything. So any ideas? Thanks guys and sorry for the long post, But this shotgun wasn't cheap. lol

Welcome from MI.

As far as I koew they all used the same receiver. Did the stock line up perfectly on your buddies gun? I would try to fund another stock somewhere and test fit it, even if I had to go to the local gun smith. I suppose both parts could be at the edge of allowable tolerances but combined show the flaw.

Well the 870 police has been a total lemon. I ordered the 870 police stock and it does not fit. the shot gun will only hold 5 rounds in the tube with the extension. I changed the spring and follower and I am still having the issue. The gun jams every now and them and the finish is absolutely horrible. I saved a lot of money to buy the 870 police, and now I am regretting the decision. I called Remington and the guy I spoke with was very rude and sounded like he was eating, I could tell he couldn't wait to get me off the phone. I told him all the problems I was having and asked if any of this was normal, He just said no and stopped talking. After a minute of silence and him chewing I asked if I should send it in. He told me to try a new stock and spring and if It didn't work to call back. So ill call today.

SO I talked to Remington today and was a little more persistent and they finally agreed to send me a shipping label. At one point he said they didn't offer the Remington 870 Police because it was not listed on the Remington website. So i asked what he meant by that. He said nothing. lol..He said the label will get to me in 5 days. Ill keep you guys posted on what ends up happening. I prey they make things right.

Here is a pic of the stock issue I am having. Mind you this is a speedfeed stock and this one fits the best but is still very noticeable. The picture doesn't show it that well. The factory synthetic Remington stock is a lot worse.
