I have a one piece 20MOA extended base sitting around that I'm thinking of using strictly because it's extended and would like the extra length to better position my scope.

Here's my quandary. I set my 6-24X50 scope at mechanical zero and it has 480 1/4 moa elevation clicks and 499 1/4 moa windage. Its plenty on the two piece flat base to get me pretty far out there. 120-125MOA is a pretty good range for adjustment, don't think the extra 20MOA is going to ever be needed for distance.

Will this hose me? Should I use this base and rezero just for the extension and better scope position options? Or should I just look for and extended flat base?

This is pretty corn-fusing to me. :?:

The 20 moa base was introduced back in the 90's for modern scopes w/o enough elevation for 1000yard shooting. (Older scopes such as the Weaver T series had more than enough elevation built in.) you can use use that base but keep in mind that you won't have as much windage leeway since the elevation x-hairs will be at the bottom of the cylinder. They will still appear to be centered.
