Do your screen name and avatar have any special meaning or did you just pick a random name and a cool pic? Some are pretty self explanitory, but others can be much more inspired.

Let's hear it...

I grew up shoot'n handguns with my Pop, mostly his Colt Combat Commander, and I got pretty decent with a pistol. It's hard not to pick up good habits when you're taught to shoot by a retired Ranger Capt. He carried a 12 gauge as his primary in the service and we never really shot rifles much, so when I first made the jump from pistols to long-guns I had a pretty hard time adjusting. I had virtually no experience and had to learn as I went along. I was tryin to sight in a shiny new scope I put on my brand new Remy 700 and couldn't find zero to save my @$$. I was tryin everything that I could think of and my patterm was all over the paper.

An ol' timer who'd apparently been watchin me for a while walks up and hands me a set of hex wrenches. I said thank you and politely asked why he'd handed them to me. "Tighten up your rings" he said, "that oughta bout do it". I asked how he knew and he replied with "son I've been shootn a couple lanes down from you for the better part of an hour and the rattlin in them rings is givin me a headache". I kinda muttered out loud "so that's what's causing me to shoot all over the place".

He said, "young man it's either that or you got yourself one hell of a LAZY EYE"!

We both got a good laugh. He shared a few helpful tips and from then on I've been able to sight in pretty much any rifle with three shots. The whole ordeal made quite an impression on me.

When I got into gun forums I thought the name was a good fit and a reminder to always help people out whenever I could. I designed the avatar afterward. I thought it'd be a funny visual representation of the name.

i like fomoco cars and trucks,if i thought about it i would have picked MARK 1V.

I have used this screen name since I was about 15 (okie) because I'm from Oklahoma. Stranger because I have never meet anyone on the interweb so we are all strangers. And the avitar is a picture of me and my horse Cody when we climbed the mountain north of my mothers house.

New to this site. Glad I found it, via a web search for Remington owners. I am a retired U.S. Coast Guard Hospital Corpsman Chief, (now called Health Services Technicians), hence the HSC moniker. Retired in 1999. Soon to quit my second career with the VA and move to a small hobby farm in Indiana to spend the rest of my days raising chickens and a beef steer or two. Just got a Model 700 ADL in 30.06. It was new in the box and has fleur di lis checkering on a walnut stock. Trying to get information about this rifle. It's not the 50th anniversary edition, as it is an ADL, not a BDL. Any ideas?

Obviously don't have an avatar yet, but I do have several interests-antique John Deere tractors, Ford trucks, G.I. stuff (former military). I used to drive the deuce & a half in the AF, so when I got a chance to buy one, I jumped on it. It is an M35A2, and I'm from Missouri, hence the name. I don't use the same name for all the different forums I belong to though.

My screen name is an alias I just made up one day. I thought it sounded like a good name for a witty, Southern author, sort of like Mark Twain. Although I'm not witty or much of an author, I'm Southern and Mr. Twain is one of my heroes, so I thought it was a good fit for my online presence.

My avatar is a quote from another of my favorite authors, William Gibson. I love his work and the quote, well, I feel that it applies pretty well to my life and probably the lives of other folks as well!

A loooooong time ago I rode Harley's and knew people who belonged to the "Bandits" and the "Angels" I was what those people called an independant ( didn't belong to any club) the Bandits called me "Bible Thumper" and the Angels nicknamed me "Phonejack" . The Harley's and those people were left behind several decades ago.

I use that screen name on another site, why not this one? I ride Triumph motorcycles, like shallow water salt water fishing. I'm a retired firefighter, have three remington shotguns,three rifles, three black powder rifles and four pistols.

I use that because I'm American, my name is (R)uss, and I come from a long family line of Remington owners.

So, "Go West" became "Doran, Go!"
The picture is the only Remington I own. Just bought it last week for $500 with the Leopold scope included . 700 BDL in .243 Winchester.

Well my screename ( *R1* ) is in reference to my Sportbike, I ride a 2008 Yamaha YZF-R1. and My signature pic is associated with My R1, my BMW and the fact that I am a Freemason!

I will be playing around with photoshop soon in order to figure out how to incorporate a Rem700 into the piece!

First post so we shall see what it looks like. The avitar and name are one in the same it is a 101st patch over layed with a 1960s Ft Campbell Recondo Patch, from the home of the original Recondos. I was a Sargent in the 101st (64-67) when it was Airborne and a Recondo school graduate. I was the sniper for the 2/319th when there were no sniper schools, we were selected from the rifle team and told to go get an M-14 and find a scope. My Sgt Major was Paul Huff the first US Paratrooper to be awarded the MOH and one more tough SOB. I have been shooting Remingtons for 63 years, started at 5 with a 510. Well we will need to fix the avitar.

My screen name was my nickname in the US Army.
My avatar is the logo for Vietnam Veterans of America. I am a 32 year member of that great veterans service organization.
I was in 1967-1970 and spent a year in Vietnam with the 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized).
