I have run into a situation where some of the ammo I have tried will not fully seat and will be hard to remove once in battery. I have noticed this on the Hornady TAP and Critical Defense ammo as well as the Federal American Eagle FMJ. I disassembled the gun and removed the barrel and just dropped the ammo into he barrel to see if it would full seat flush with the back of the hood. I have tried WWB, PMC, Magtech FMJ. Speer Gold Dot JHP and Corbom DPX all seat flush and were easily removed.
The Hornady TAP, Critical Defense, Corbon JHP and the American Eagle FMJ would not seat flush and was visually above the end of the hood (couple of thousands?). If they were pushed in and seated flush, they were difficult to try and remove. I am thinking the ID chamber diameter is not the same from the top to the bottom where casing seats. Has anyone heard of this before? I have heard rumors that some barrels got out without being properly finished.
I was thinking of buy a replacement barrel and having it fitted, any thoughts, comments or help would be appreciated.

I got it slightly used, but have put in excess of 500 rounds of WWB, PMC Bronze and Magtech without any problems. When I tried to use the Hornady TAP or Critical Defense is when I noticed the seating problem. I tried to manually rack the slide with the TAP loaded and noticed it would not rack without considerable force. This is when I field stripped and removed the barrel and stated testing each individual make and found the 3 or four mentioned that would not seat fully when dropped in the barrel. If you force the rounds to seat fully and then take them out, they do have some "scratches" right at the top of the case, seems almost like the barrel is very slightly smaller at the point where the bullet fully seats and the rifling begins vs the breach end by the hood

I would use a round pencil, 1000 grit paper, and oil to clean up the chamber. Slide it in and out just like a case moves. Then polish it with a dremil.

I think the chamber is not the problem. The leade, where the barrel/bullet/chamber transitions into the rifling, is probably cut very close to the step where the case mouth headspaces.
Different bullet designs, with different ogives (the curvature of the bullet nose outside of the case mouth), potentially can slam the bullet into the rifling while chambering and cause a hard lock-up before battery. Some ogive bullets are fine and others drive the bullet into the leade and pinch into the rifling. A trip back to Remington for a cut/polish of the leade to SAAMI specs would certainly help.
