I just broke down my late husband's grandfather's 1954ish Remington 11-48 12 gauge shotgun. I downloaded the owner's manual on-line and I think I might be missing the friction piece (#20535, I think that description is incorrect) and #18746 whose description I can't find.

I wanted to know if these were essential parts and if the shotgun will still fire safely.

I'd also like to know if I can replace them along with the magazine spring retainer (#17498)?

Any ideas??

I'm attaching the blowout illustration and the parts list in case anyone knows this gun but needs a refresher on the part #s. I hope they are readable.

Thanks so much.

When the sh&t hits the fan, I want to have something to hit back with. It's a German/Irish thing.

Welcome to the Remington Owners Forum JL Ray !!

The list is not readable...and I gunsmith my own firearms, but don't guess to know what parts you are describing...so, I would take it to a gunsmith before saying it was safe to use...
