I was googling Remington rifles and your site was one that came up. I can not believe that I did not know about this site. I have owned, shot and hunted with Remington rifles since 1968.

I just bought my first Remington and figured there had to be a good forum for Remington owners. One google search later I was wading around through all the great information on this forum.

I have a Remington 700 270 Winchester Rifle (Deer Hunting) and a Remington 870 Wing Master Shotgun for small game.
I have been using this screen name for a few years now.
I found this site by performing a google search for the Remington 700

DOH, I can't believe I haven't posted here.

I'm the same MikeD from MossbergOwners.com. I've had my 870 for about 25 years now. Up until a couple years ago it was my go to shotgun for everything.

I got here through a Google search. There are special groups out there for almost any interest. I suspect this site is loaded with a lot of friendly and knowledgeable people.

I was looking for accessories to fit my 7600 and came across pictures of things I wanted/needed.
Those pictures in your gallery were posted on Google.
This is the place that I've seen the most 7600 owners, so I've been lurking and looking for good tips and information from long time owners.
I'm new to this rifle and I hear good and bad things about it.
Hopefully by listening to people here, I'll be a guy who has a"good" Remington 7600 .308 pump.
Thanks for this forum

I may be buying my 4th 40-X (used) and I was searching all over the internet to find some general guidelines to production dates based on the serial number. With most other Remingtons, you can just read the barrel code and you are good to go. A goodly number of 40-Xs only have the caliber, proof marks and that is mostly it--no date codes. This is especially true with the odd calibers and the one I am looking at is a factory 30-338 Win Mag. Now this is not to say there are some if not most of the 40Xs have date codes on the barrel but not certainly not all.

What I was looking for was any information along these lines. I am even starting a very general serial number date list so I may be able to help someone else. Any information along these lines would be appreciated. Thanks!
