I was thinking about purchasing a red dot sight to switch out with my scope. If I switch from scope to red dot or vise versa, will I have to re-calibrate every time I shoot or will they stay pretty close to staying sighted in so I can swap back and forth? My intent would be to set up the scope for a little bit longer range shooting, and the red dot for closer shooting/plinking. Thanks for your input.

Welcome to the Remington Owners Forum Tyranta597 !!

...depending on whether or not the scopes are quick release or screw tightened will determine if they will hold zero when hot swapped from the rail.

Thanks Shooter. The scope has the 2 screws with the bolt heads, and the red dot I'm looking at looks like it has normal screws. They should at least stay close as long as they're not bumped shouldn't they?

you may want to consider a first focal plane scope...this is typically a 1 to 5 or 6 power scope and the reticle zooms with magnification...coupled with long eye relief.. you get the best of both worlds... works like a cross hair dot at close range and gives a mil dot at magnification... hope this gives an alternative to swapping!

Alternatively to swapping scope n dot back and forward - what about mounting the red dot above the scope? Atb
