My first post to this forum...Please forgive any obvious newbie questions.

I'm looking for a Remington 597 HB (#80912), the digital camo .22lr rifle. I have not been able to locate a single source with this item in stock. I could use some input.

I heard a rumor that Remington was no longer making the 597 series....that seems odd as several of this series appear to be new additions. Could somebody clarify this?

The rumor that remington has stopped making the 597 seems untrue. It would be strange to discontinue this model now that all of the early problems have been fixed with revisions.
If you can't sell it don't buy it

I believe it's just the VTR that was discontinued.

Versions and styles come and go...if it doesn't jump sales, then it is discarded. Just because you and I like a certain version doesn't make it a winner in sales.

Then again...old becomes new...and a vintage look makes a come back !

Marketing drives sales...

I say find the closest thing to what you want. a 597 in 22wmr. The look for a heavy barrel, then find a stock.

The best thing about the 597 is that is is rapidly becoming really popular in the customization market.

Boyds makes a tacticool stock that is really nice. There are triggers, bolts, and barrels available.

Always try gunbroker.com or gunsamerica.com on a regular basis as well.

Good luck. I hope you find it.
