Well today i ordered my Vortex Viper PST FFP 4-16x50
can't wait for it to come in i was between the 4-16 and the 6-24 and after shooting just shy of 500 yards this past weekend with a 3x9 banner that i borrowed from a friend just so i could shoot the rifle instead of missing out on a West Point shooting adventure, to be honest i chose the 4-16 because at 500 yards on 9 x i had absolutely no problem hitting center mass on a 24 inch plate and i rather keep the lower mag down for better FOV for maybe using this as a hunting rifle also

Congrats! You can't go wrong with a Vortex and the warranties.

I have both of those scopes...well, SFP, let me tell you, the 4-16 is big, but the 6-24 is huge! I've mostly been a 1" main tube guy, and was a bit startled when I opened the box and saw how big the 30mm tube makes them look.

The 4-16x is slated to go on my M70 Coyote 7mm WSM, but I have the 6-24x on my Ruger 77V/T .220 Swift. (It's the one on the rest)

how do you like the 4-16 like i said at 500 yards on 9x on the banner i was drilling the plate so i don't see really needing over 16 unless I'm over 1000 yards

I don't have it mounted up yet. I do have the 6-24x on a HB Swift, as I said. Seems pretty nice... maybe not quite as bright as my Conquests or FX3 6x42... I wish the reticle was a bit more bold, if you don't have the illumination turned on, it's pretty had to find in dark conditions, but then, it's not on a dark timber elk rifle, either. An 11 pound .220 Swift is not my ideal rifle for dark, steep and deep!
