   I recently was able to pattern the Hornady Critical Defense 2 3/4" 12 ga 00 buck, 1600 fps. I used two guns, Mossberg 590A1 20" with Vang Comp System and Mossberg 500A Persuader 20". Both are 20" smoothebore guns, the difference being the VCS. I patterned the loads at 5, 10, and 15 yards. The Hornady load features the VersaTite wad, of which I recovered several and they are identical to Federal's FliteControl wad. I think you'll be surprised with my findings, I was!!! RossignolST
