dog229 here,
I was wanting to know if a mod fix barrel in 12g. for my 870 is worth changing to I.C. by having a gunsmith bore it to correct size. My barrel is on my 1956 ap 870 which is 28" plain barrel. Looking to do more dove or quail down the road. Is the barrel better then for having it done. I don't know the forcing cone or barrel inside dia. but have notice that the feed ramp on the barrel isn't as big than later barrels of today that i polish up. My gun is real lite in weight of barrel to more modern day barrels which seem to be more heavy. The method of boring out the choke on utube doesn't seem to hard with only having the correct size to punch it out to .720 for i.c. but cost is a factor in buying the bit or having a smith to do it.
I was looking to have it threaded for chokes but that is $100. around where i live in louisville, ky. so what is a shotgun to do GO BANG BANG BANG!!
