I have many Remmy's, mostly 700's, but I bought a senior member of the Remington line two days ago: a Remington Rangemaster Model 37. She's a beauty with the original barrel and great looking thumbhole stock. It's truly amazing that the rifle is in "like new" condition after all these years.
Here is my question. The barrel markings (see attached photo) show that the rifle was manufactured in August (W) of 1952 (YY). The markings on the extreme left show a 'g' followed by 2 hash marks followed by 3 hash marks. What do these additional marks mean?
Thanks for any info that you can provide.
