I have recently refurbed a Remington Model 24 • date of manufacture 1933 ...

Started here ... it was given to me by a gun jockey at a gun show after I had looked at it about 6 times.

My problem is the barrel is just a "Little" loose. I have adjusted the adjustment ring to maximum and the barrel is butted up to the cartridge guide as it should be - not flush against but with just a tiny tiny bit of clearance as I have read and seen on video is supposed to be the case. This flush fit leaves just enough space between the adjustment ring and the receiver to allow just the slightest bit of wobble. Since the ring is as far out as it can go to allow for the proper adjustment of the barrel what is the answer to alleviate the small amount of space between the adjustment ring and the receiver ?

Thanks in advance for any help in the matter.

Just to close this out ... Found some further information on fine tuning the takedown fitment.

Used the way they did it and got the barrel tight and where it should be in relation to the cartridge feed.

Good for you. Your fine pics reveal the quality of those vintage guns. I love to see the quality that went into them way back. Leaps and bounds ahead of many offerings these days. That new Winchester Wildcat .22 is the latest abortion I have seen. Surprised it has any metal at all.
