Greetings. I'm doing some research on a model 760 in .222 cal. My dad gave me this rifle for my 13th birthday. I've had it for 37 years now. It was my first deer rifle and I shot my first buck with it. It originally had the basic stock and cob forearm on it. It also came with two magazines and a fancy Monte Carlo stock set. When I got older and moved on to a bigger caliber deer rifle, I put the fancy stock on it. Unfortunately, the original stock set has gone missing. It also came with a Weaver K4 dot/crosshair scope in a breakaway mount so that the iron sights could be used. Kinda neat little gun.
In my research, it looks like Remington made the 760 from 58-61 in 222. So far so good. Where I'm stumbling is the barrel date code shows that this rifle was made in July of 1957. The code is "O D 33".
Does that jive with known manufacturing times? The serial number is 3089XX. Any help would be appreciated.
