This is my 40-X in 76.2x51. It has a 27" barrel and is a single shot.

Nice looking rifle.

How's it shoot?

It's been several years since I have shot it but it shot 3/4" @ 100 yards consistently. Thanks for asking.

Looks great and real quality. The older stuff from Rem. can't be beat. Wish things would never have changed.

Thanks, mauser9. I agree. I buy the older stuff mostly out of production. It usually cost more but it's worth it to me.

Lately, I've been gravitating more towards older stuff too. A lot of the newer stuff just doesn't have the "personality" as some of the older stuff.

Besides, I have gotten some pretty good deals just because it's "old" before too.

I picked up a nice Noble pump 16 gauge with an adjustable choke a while back for barely a $100 bill.

Granted it was nearly fouled shut. Once I cleaned all the gunk out of it, and ran a bronze bristle brush in the bore while hooked to my cordless drill to get all the plastic fouling out that had built up decades ago, it turned out to be nice little shooter. I mean, what's not to like about a good shooting pump for 100 bucks?

Yes, not bad for a C note. And I like your quote, too.

Thank you.

Occasionally I take a chance on an old gun that looks like it has never been cared for. I tend to buy them cheap because I know the work that goes into fixing them back up again. But I can say that it's worked well since.

My sig line has been around since Al Gore invented the internet. And coincidentally, was made about that bunch during the old AWB as well.

Old Indeed!!! That is what I look for now. Especially the 1100s and Wingmasters. More quality like walnut and glossy finishes as well as steel receivers. Often surprised how reasonable the price is for these used gems. Can't figure it out. Sure look better than most stuff today.Take me back to the days of wood and gloss!!
