While I was cleaning my Remington Fieldmaster 572, I found a number inside the receiver. It was 19845-5. Below it was a rectangle with A100A inside it, followed by the letter G. I had previously examined the exterior for a serial number, and not found one. I attached no significance to odd single characters here and there. Maybe I should have. Can anyone tell me the significance of the number inside the receiver?

No I can't, though I would also be interested in finding out.

Perhaps it was the number of the forge mold or something.

A little more info please. Was the number stamped in, roll-marked, or look like it was part of the forging? The 572 Owner's Manual doesn't list Remington part numbers, so it's hard to tell.
