I'm getting Mixed performance with SST's Superformance in my 20" Remmy VTR.

Anyone else getting same?
Last 200 yard group I shot was just MOA, which for me was very poor.
I can get sub inch on an average day with the .223.

I have had the same results in my 700 tac with 20". But i found the Hornady 168 gr BTHP matchs to give excellent results under MOA all the time the point of impact seems to stay put when ever i take it to the range week after week.
If you can't sell it don't buy it

I chronographed superformance and it was a large spread in speed which would account for the odd fliers which opens up the groups.

I got an average of 3550 fps out of the 53 grain .223 stuff which is a screamer of a round.
I know I am not using a factory barrel on my .223 but I am getting almost 100fps faster than Hornady data for the same length barrel.

I have a few 165 grain Nosler Silvertips ordered for the .308.
I'll see if these babies improve accuracy for me @200 as I have missied once or twice when out deer stalking and a red fox crossed my path.
an extra or sub100fps could be a hit or a miss on Varmints and a wound Vs a kill shot

Hmmm... Interesting.

The extra 100-fps is certainly a curious phenomenon because Hornady claims they used a 24" test barrel but your chamber and leade might contribute to higher pressures, as could maybe a slower twist than theirs.

When I plugged the .224" 53-gr V-Max bullet into Hornady's ballistics calculator I plotted the same bullet at two speeds, 3465 (their advertised velicity) and 3565 (100-fps faster).

At 200 yards, the advertised vel showed the bullet doing 2777-fps, shooting +1.0" high @ 100-yards and -5.6" low at 300.

When I added 100-fps the 200-yard bullet velocity does 2861-fps, shooting +0.9 high @ 100-yards and -5.2" low at 300.

I'm not seeing that great a variance in bullet impact based on their calculator but you and I both know that real world findings from different rifles makes all the difference in the world! Goes to show that every rifle has its own personality, doesn't it?

Seems to me like I might reconsider giving up on the 100-fps increase and going back to what was a VERY good shooting original handload in the first place!

I am running a Custom Truflite barrel which may account for the faster speeds, also I am using a 1/8 twist vs a 1/12 that the VSSF II comes with as standard.

My Rifle does have a tight chamber, it will not chamber Wolf ammo at all.
This may also account for higher speeds.

The .308 Falls short of the Claimed speeds as she only is 20" Vs 24" Test Barrel.

Nitesite, I answered your question re: handloading for my model 7MS .257 Roberts in the new member area. I now have switched to Superformance ammo and I'm very pleased with it. I see you list being a dog lover, we own 3 Springer Spaniels and yes it's a full time job.
