Slant-slant-RANT! Love Remington, Remington firearms, and basically ass-such Remington. Don't love the guy who came up with the 597Magnum reassembly without any special tools. Trying to get those dual-recoil springs onto a bolt guide rod and inserted into the magazine is the single-most stupid procedure ever developed. Yea, probably pretty easy on the 597, not so on the 597M. I had to set mine aside while I waited for a Gunsmither special tool to re-assemble the recoil springs. That made it a whole lot easier, and that tool should come included with the 597M (except that Remington killed this model off). End-slant-slant-RANT!!

Yeah sounds like a royal pain in the ass Scorpion. probably good I stayed away from them. Am not mechanically inclined at all. Bought the Ruger compact 22 magnum. Remove bolt and punch barrel. Even I can do that!

I had one, the Ruger American Rimfire bolt action in 22WMR. Didn't like the stock with it's cheesy inserts, and it seemed waaaaaay more plasticy than even the normal plastic wunder-rifles. I wish Remington would re-establish it's rimfire heritage with some updated or new models, or even just bring back some of the great older models.

I too would like to see some of the older models brought back but believe we will have to settle for searching the used gun racks. Have a 581 with clip feed that looks almost custom by todays standards. Clinging to stuff I bought 40-45 years back like my 700, Model Four, and 1100TB trap gun.

I'm afraid that's true. We won't see anything like some of those models again, and I've been wondering if the current 552/572's are just NOS from the days of heavy production and they'll just sell them until they're gone, Like the Marlin 39A's. Word is Marlin has been unable to recreate those after their purchase/move and that's why all you see new is Marlin Custom Shop offerings from NOS stashes.
