I have read all the inputs others have provided over the years. I did not find where Remington corrected the issue or even cares about the issue.

I had my R51 out today for the first time - and YEP - everything was about 6-7 inches low at 10 yards. I reckon it should be dead on at 100 YARDS.............lol

Any suggestions on a DIY fix? A good, shorter replacement front sight that won't break the bank??

I milled the sight down on mine by .040" IIRC. Since it also cut into the front dot, I milled/re-drilled the dot also then powdercoated it in matte finish to match the slide. A file could be used to accomplish the same.

Thanks for the input. Now to find time to get to the shop and measure 0.04 and file it. Don't have a "mill". LOL

i ordered a front sight from Dawson Precision (novak cut) that was only 0.140" tall. if i recall factory is ~0.170+ tall. i've heard 0.180 tall. when i get it and get it installed i'll let you all know if this comes close to fixing the very low POI. i used the dawson sight height calculator to make a best estimate. if the factory was 0.180" and funflyer milled 0.040" off the front sight and that fixed it, then a 0.140" tall front sight would be the way to go. i don't have a mill either, so i figure Dawson Precision is the next best thing and just ordered a lower front sight from them. we shall see.
