I picked up a 870 in 20 ga in an auction but it is missing the barrel. The serial # end in X. There is no prefix letter. I tried to buy a barrel and they do not fit. Which barrels fit this model and is it 2 3/4" and 3"?
Thanks

No, That is not me. But similar issue. I think I got the barrel issue solve thanks to Brownells. But, I am still wondering about the chamber on 3" shells for this receiver.

How did the barrel not fit?
I wouldn't think it mattered which length chamber barrel you buy since that's determined more by the chamber than anything else. 3" would be more universal between the two. When people ignorant of guns make gun laws, you end up with ignorant gun laws.

With suffix N or X the barrel is an old standard weight (12 gauge size receiver). N is the 3" model- the receiver determines the shell length that will function. A 3" barrel will fit, but ejection is unlikely.
What could have happened... did.
