Well, my story begins with the need for a new automobile. SWMBO was having problems getting in and out of our pickup truck and we needed something for her. After checking out many different brands and models we settled on the Chrysler PT Cruiser in Steel Blue because the front passenger seat was just about like sitting down in a dining room chair.
With that out of the way I found there was a car club in the area devoted to the PT.....PT Cruisers of Silicon Valley …..so we joined up. Each car had to have a “theme”. Because of the color of the car and the fact that we had recently completed a tour of the California amusement parks (at disneyland we all got named) the car was dubbed EEYORE the donkey (my attitude? Nah!!) so the car became Eeyore; license plate EYORSPT and my email was the same. I use it on a few forums. The avatar is a picture of my new 1958 Remington Model 740 in .30-06 that I picked up a few months ago. Can't wait for the nice weather to get out back and see what it will do. Howdy folks! Gray Wolf here. Well, my avatar is my Model 4 Remington chambered in 32 RF. It was the first gun I shot and how I learned all my basic skills. At age 4 I used this rifle to shoot rats and other varmints in our back yard in Kentucky. It originally belonged to my grandfather, was passed down to my dad and when he passed it became a part of my collection. It's a fine shooter. I just wish 32 RF was more readily available and not so expensive so I could shoot it again like I used to.
My user name is my Native American moniker, being part Kituwah Cherokee and part Scottish. Looking forward to learning from the group, especially about my new Remington 783 chambered in .308 Win. Gray Wolf

I'm John and my screen name of Gov2mod started almost 20 years ago when I was searching for a screen name. I had a Colt Government Model in my hand and was going to use that name but I thought it was too long of a name so I shortened it to "Govmod". Over the years with different emails and websites I had added numbers so now it's gov2mod. My main interests are firearms and Harley's and I've got many of each. I am my own mechanic and gunsmith. I found this site online and needed some information concerning Remington shotguns so I joined to obtain knowledge from the members here as well as to share my own.

My screen name is me! I was born in Pennsylvania where I got my hunting blood and "shootist" genes. In Pa,, I Did my deer hunting with a Remington (Model720 ,I believe) 30-06, bought back in 1954. My brother has the rifle now. Spent 4 years in Air force 1953-1957. as a helicopter mechanic. Graduated from Penn State University in 1961 and took a job in Tennessee as a test project engineer at the Arnold AFB wind tunnel complex. Retired in 1996! So I am up in years when you do the math. I own a Browning bolt action 30-06 bought back in 1963. Also a Browning A-5 shotgun purchased around the same time. Primarily a deer and duck hunter with occasional rabbit and quail forages. In 2011, bought a Remington 1100 LT20 gauge for my older grandson and recently purchased a Remington 1100 12 gauge destined for my son I law's collection. |

Sako 243 is my screen name and my favorite rifle. I have used it as a name for 20 plus years. I was given the rifle for my 15th birthday in 1971 and still use it today. It has shot a lot of deer for me and I have mentored a bunch of kids and they have harvested their first deer with it before getting their own rifles. That' it....
And so it goes....

Hello from Southern Indiana. I received my first Remington as a Christmas present at age of 10 and I still have it. It's a Model 512. I've owned mainly Remingtons ever since. My main shooters now are rollers with a few modern Remington rifles, shotguns, and one .45 R1. I've have a hankering for an Enhanced 1911 R1 in 9mm.
I stumbled across this forum looking for some reviews on the 1911 R1 9mm. Some folks love 'em and some don't. I haven't had any problems with my R1 .45. The best all around 1911 I've ever owned. Regards, GeorgeC Never mind the mule. Just load the wagon.

As an OG (Original Gamer) starting out when Coleco Telstar Pong was the newest thing, I played quite a few video games. Needless to say, as the systems progressed I went right along. I was pretty good with the original Battlefield and Call of Duty games. But, time marches on. My reflexes and vision, even when playing video games, caught up to my age. Feels like one day I was killing it, the next I was getting 360 no-scoped by 12-year-olds, right in the head. Usually by the hand of my own son.
I feel like cannon fodder now when I run-and-gun; nothing more than pink mist. So now I creep in the shadows. I may only get 5-10 kills a match, but you will rarely find me. I'm now the guy that the 12-year-olds constantly complain about. They call me all kinds of names and etc. But I know it is for ruining their "Killstreak". Poor kiddos... I will school them in the art of age and treachery! Be it mine or be it yours, you will know why I'm called Brainmatter. All in good fun, of course! Model 14, R51, RM380

No Avatar. Screen name is the first 4 letters of my name plus the my birth year, so Larry 1947 becomes larr47. Some past history. My first 380 was a KT P3AT, maybe 10 years ago. It got to the point that I didn't even want to practice with it because it racked so hard and had an awful trigger!! About 2 years ago I bought a Taurus TCP and sold the KT. The Taurus does have a much better trigger but, like the KT, the slide was hard to rack and the recoil for both is ridiculous. I started reasearching 380's and the RM kept popping up! The only apparent downside was the long trigger pull. During the cold weather months I carry a SCCY CPX2, which I really like, and it has a long DA pull so I'm used to that. Other than that, all the reviews were positive and even glowing. I'm a DAO fan because I don't need to be fiddling with safties in a crunch situation. I ordered it 2 weeks ago and picked it up on Friday. Out the door was $238. Took it out today (right out of the box), transferred my Pachmayr grip sleeve from the TCP and commenced to shoot 10 mags of Winchester WB, Hornady Critical Defense and Federal Hydra Shok, in no particular order. Not one hiccup (as I expected from the reviews). What really surprised me (even though all the reviews said this was so) was the mild recoil. Compared to this, the KT and the TCP are like shooting cannons. So 60 flawless rounds and a good cleaning, it's now loaded with my carry ammo and in my pocket holster as I write this. This IS my new EDC gun. I carry everywhere it's legal, including to church (yes, my pastor knows and is fine with it). I live in South Central PA, am 71 and have arthritis in my hands and wrists, so this is a pleasure to rack and shoot. Once I can't rack a slide at all, I'll start carrying my Taurus stainless 32 mag 6 shot revolver. But for now, well let's just say the reviews were all correct and I made a good choice. Sorry KT, Taurus, Ruger et al!!!! The RM380 is one nice pistol!!! Anyone want to by a TCP with around 120 rounds through it?????

Taffy90 refers to the third (and last) great dane dog we had.... also had 2 Dobermans!
I was a Remington employee for 20 years at the Bridgeport CT ammo works. Started out in 1968 after grad from Georgia Tech as a research engineer. Finished in 1988 as superintendent employee relations trying to help with an orderly transition to the new ammo plant in Lonoke, AR. Interesting career! No avatar as yet. |
