I replaced the scope bases that came with the newly purchased gun as well as the scope. The base I selected was the Warne 2 piece. Their website has you enter the rifle manufacturer and model number and it tells you your options they offer. I noticed on the packaging when I received it these bases also worked for the Savage Axis and Ruger American.

And according to Midway's website https://www.midwayusa.com/product/15922 ... -rear-axis they show compatability with Remington 783, Ruger American Rifle-Centerfire Long Action, Ruger American Rifle-Centerfire Short Action, Savage 10 Short Action 4.4" Spacing, Savage 10 Short Action 4.275" Spacing, Savage 10FC, Savage 10GC, Savage 11, Savage 11FC, Savage 11GC, Savage 12, Savage 14, Savage 16, Savage 16C, Savage 110, Savage 110BA, Savage 110C, Savage 110FC, Savage 110GC, Savage 111, Savage 111C, Savage 111FC, Savage 111GC, Savage 112, Savage 114, Savage 116, Savage 116C, Savage Axis Long Action, Savage Axis Short Action, Savage Edge, Thompson Center Venture. I've read the Mossberg Patriot and TC Compass may be compatible as well.

I'm making the assumption the shape of all these receivers and the hole spacing must be the same, if the same bases work.

Is it fair to assume bases for other manufacturers (possibly only the 2 piece bases) that fit these rifles would also fit the Remington 783?

And further, is there anyone that can say if there are any 1 piece bases from another rifle that might happen to fit the 783?

(I suppose its possible that only the 2 piece bases may be compatible, it would depend on the overall distance of the front and rear holes. But, I was wondering what others have found).

I myself would call the manufacturer and ask about the specific fit to your 783.

DNZ shows short action 1 piece hole spacing .86, 3.25, .86 only match I found for hole spacing on a 1 piece base was Tikka T3, but it doesn't appear to be a rounded receiver. Looks like a 1 piece base has to be a part specific to the Rem 783, but there may me several options for a 2 piece system.
