With my RM380 firmly entrenched in my EDC rotation, I'm looking for some minor upgrades to make a great pistol a true Hall of Famer. I'm going to pick up the Gallloway stainless steel guide rod, the reduced power spring kit, and the hammer spring seat. What I'm not so sure about is the Tyre trigger, which is offered at a good price and claims awesome performance. Does anyone here have any experience with this upgrade?
UPDATE: See below for how my attempted upgrade worked out.

Sorry...no experience with that particular trigger.
But, maybe some other member here will have input. Hang tight... |

UPDATE:
So, I took the plunge and bought both the Tyre trigger and the stainless steel guide rod from Galloway Precision. The SS guide rod installed without a problem. So far, so good. Next was the trigger install. I watched the Youtube video demonstrating the procedure, which is pretty much a pull-out-and-drop-in job. So I got the grip panels off, removed the old trigger bar, popped out the old trigger, and put the new one in. The next part of the procedure involves adjusting a small screw at the front of the trigger assembly to reduce travel, but they recommend putting the grip panel back on first to ensure that the trigger-hammer are working properly. My didn't. Long story short, I put my old trigger back on, and then tried the new one again, being extra careful to make sure that everything was in the proper place to eliminate user error as a cause. Bottom line, the Tyre trigger has a less pronounced curve than the OEM trigger, and as such makes contact with the rear of the trigger guard just before it travels enough to allow the hammer to fully retract and break. The difference is probably a millimeter at most, but it is enough to induce malfunction. So I contacted Galloway to ask for a replacement. They said that all the triggers are exactly the same, mine was not out of spec, but that they would waive their bench fee if I paid to ship my firearm there and back so they could look at it. I responded that shipping my firearm both ways would cost more than I paid for the trigger, and that I'd be better off just getting my money back at this point. They agreed to refund my $$$, but said that I would have to pay return shipping...FOR A DEFECTIVE PART!!! To make matters even worse their email responses were extremely curt and unsympathetic. This is the last time I will do business with Galloway, and I will never again recommend that company to anyone who asks. |

Sorry to hear...thanks for the update.

I too experienced the issue with the trigger not moving far enough to the rear to drop the hammer. I had previously installed all of the upgrades from Galloway, the stainless recoil rod, the increased rate recoil spring, the reduced power spring and the stainless plug for the hammer spring seat. All of these upgrades worked perfectly and were as advertised. My only problem with the RM380 is the extremely long trigger pull which was not discovered until I got the weapon home, since I couldn't dry fire the pistol in the LGS.
Brandyn at Galloway was very helpful regarding the new Tyre Trigger failure in my gun, but he explained he was unable to replicate the problem in his test gun, but if I would pay to send the gun to him he would waive bench fees to discover the problem. Although this was more than the cost of the trigger, I agreed because the trigger pull is atrocious on this gun. The RM380 is now at Galloway and I will report the results when I get it back. I am also having them do their "Hydrodip" process on my grip panels, since there is not aftermarket grips available for this pistol yet. I am having the "dark walnut" wood grain put on the panels. I will post a picture (if I can figure out how) when the gun comes home. Rick |

So now we have two Remington RM380 owners who've contacted Galloway in the span of a week or two with THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, yet they refuse to rectify the issue with their product on their own dime.
This is just horrible customer service. I hope yours works out Ricrock, but this only fortifies my determination to never send them another dime. |

Hello all, I still do not have my RM380 back from Galloway, but I can say for sure, they are determined to fix the issue.
It seems they developed the trigger on their personal RM380, an early model. My model is a late model with a slightly different pivot pin which keeps the trigger from dropping. They are right now tooling up to produce a short stroke trigger bar that will solve the problem. I will report back to this forum when I receive more information from them. Once again, Brandyn, the lead gunsmith at Galloway couldn't be nicer nor do I think he could do anything more than he is doing to fix the problem. I am very happy with their concern and attention to this issue. He is sending me pictures of the hydrodipped grips next week. If I could find out how to post pictures here I would. Unfortunately I have been unable to find any information on how to do this, so maybe someone can help. Rick |

Thanks for keeping us informed about this.
I expect that Galloway will get this sorted out and the new triggers will be an excellent upgrade. Please continue the updates and, of course, a range report too. |

Can someone tell me how to post pictures on this forum. When I get the pistol back with the hydrodipped grips, I'll post pictures of them.

Any updates to report on the trigger upgrade?

Brandyn is still working on the trigger bar. He tells me he should be sending the pistol back to me in a couple of weeks.
I'll let you know. Rick |

Thanks for the update.

Thanks.
BTW, I note that the Galloway website now notes that the RM380 trigger is no longer available. |

Have you received the new trigger kit?
Please let us know as soon as your new trigger kit arrives. |

News?
If the new trigger kit works out I will be buying another RM380. They can be had for a bargain price now and, if the new trigger does the trick, it will be the best small 380 available at any price. |

I have to agree that this is 1 of the best 380's made today. Buyers are missing out if they don't check this gun out before buying a different make. I have had no failures of any kind with mine and it did not require any break-in of any kind. Operation is 100% right out of the box and recoil is not noticeable when shooting it. |

As of today Bud's gun shop has them at $240.00 and free shipping. |

Good to know...

Galloway is again showing the trigger kits as available on its web site.
boscobarbell, hope you receive your RM380 back from Galloway sometime soon. I am really looking forward to your range report. Is it fixed? How do you like it? Would you recommend this kit? |
|
Just ordered an RM380 Tuesday through Gunbuyer for $225 and have the Galloway reduced power spring kit on the way as well. Looking forward to seeing how the spring kit does!
FYI, if anyone is thinking about another RM380, Remington just started a rebate deal this past Monday (5/15/17) for $50 back by mail. |

The OEM is steel. The Galloway is stainless steel. |

Hi. It was Rickrock who was awaiting his RM380 from Galloway. I, too, am anxious to hear how the trigger upgrade works. I just checked on the Galloway website, and they are still showing them as "Out of Stock." |
