I'd like to ask for help concerning a terrific old Remington Model 30 Rifle I purchased a few years ago. I believe it is a very early one made right after WWI and would like to confirm that fact. It has a uncheckered wood stock with forearm grasping groove. It is an Enfield action with a special small well made adjustable peep sight mounted where the military flip sight was on the 1917 model. The SN is four digits in the one thousand range. The stock has a crescent buttplate mounted upside down from a typical Winchester arrangement. Caliber is 30-GOVT. There is no mounting slot for the rear sight on the barrel. The rear sight is mounted on the rear receiver bridge. The rifle is nicely blued which is fading. Any ideas if this is correct?
