I just bought a Remington 783 chambered in .308 Win. It was a rifle scope combo that I simply couldn't pass up. The scope is a pretty basic 3-9x40mm with duplex reticle. The scope is unmarked other than the adjustment settings.

My question is, does anyone know what brand scope Remington puts on their rifle/scope combos?

Yeah could not find info on what make or model on the scope question myself. Be a bit leery myself. A friend bought a nice Savage combo many years back and it came with a Simmons. Gun and scope were new and on the third shot the lenses front and rear flew out of the scope. Saw it myself. Not saying this could happen with yours but just thought I would mention it.

That's why I stick with the old school of 1100's and 700's. Real quality in those models. Must admit though the newer 783 gets many good reviews and for the money sounds like a good purchase

Doesn't surprise me. But like I said, it was a really great deal for the package. I can always put a higher quality scope on later, if this one gives me any issues.

I've shot many higher powered rifles in my 62 years of firearms experience and have never had the lenses fall out of any scopes, including a Simmons and Bushnell. But anything is possible, I guess.

Thanks for the input, coyotebob! :)

It's a great buy, great rifle, with or w/o the scope.
