After 46 years (kids and family constraints), I finally had the chance to purchase a firearm. I bought what I thought was a very low price but accurate beginner rifle in the Remington 783. I also bought two other long guns, a Ruger 10 22 and a mossberg 500. After reading several online reviews about the 783, I made the purchase about four weeks ago. So when I say that I am a new shooter, I am brand-new to firearms altogether and never fired a shot in my life.

In the 4 week timeframe, I have been reading voraciously and just finished the NY hunters homework--alas, all of the hunter courses are filled. My friends had been encouraging me to get a hunter license and join them. I have gone to the range several times now, once having the opportunity to shoot skeet w a friend. I can't believe how much fun I have been missing! Shooting is simply awesome.

When I purchased the Remington, I searched for a forum of other Remington owners and found this place. I hope that I can be a productive and positive number for the forum.

I hail from Long Island, New York, which means that I have incredibly restrictive laws in my state. I am hoping that we can get a constitutional amendment passed that would bar all regulations from non-felons of owning and purchasing guns with ammunition.

Again, I am a new shooter, but already love this sport.

I should add that I already purchased the stack on gun storage and trigger locks. Great way to spend a lot of money. Fun hobby.

Welcome Wowzer. See you joined the fraternity in time for the synthetic craze these days. Think you did OK. All those guns would have cost a bundle more if stocked with walnut and high polish blue. Good luck and go huntin with your friends.
