Hello everyone,

I just wanted to report the install of a Witt machine clamp on muzzle brake for my .308 783. In order to order a muzzle brake, you have to measure with calipers the diameter at the barrel muzzle and at 1.5 inches up the barrel. The order is done online. I ordered a Cerote finish on the muzzle brake. The brake arrived about five days after my order.

The finish was excellent. There were no loose burrs or sharp edges. The muzzle break has four screws to clamp it on the muzzle. The dimensions I specified worked perfectly on my Remington. I used a hammer and a book to get the muzzle completely seated into the brake. I used loctite blue as directed to lubricate the install. Then you screw in the side screws to clamp further. I made the mistake of clamping too hard on the fourth screw and stripped it. I used loctite blue on each screw.

I took it to the range today. The reduction of recoil was very noticeable. I used to have to keep my eyes 4" away from the scope, as the recoil would hit you otherwise. Now I can almost keep my eye directly onto the scope. The sound, of course, is deafening to those around me...but since we all wear ear muff sound protectors, and everyone uses brakes, why not?

I was able to shoot touching bullseyes with several shots at 50 yards and ~1 inch shots at 100 yds . This gun is great. The muzzle brake turns a .308 into a nicely usable rifle.

I have some pics that I will post shortly.
