I searched for any previous posts on modifying the model 541 trigger assembly, but didn't receive any results. I recently purchased a 541T made in 1994. It has 2 adjustment screws on the trigger assembly. Both of them are in the front. The upper screw adjusts overtravel and the bottom screw adjusts the pull weight. There is no adjustment screw in the rear for sear engagement that was on earlier models. The trigger release weight was 6 pounds. I have adjusted the front lower screw until it has come out of the assembly and cannot get the trigger any lighter than 4 pounds.
I was hoping someone on here might have worked on their 541 or 581 trigger assembly and discovered how to lighten the release weight. I ordered a reduced power spring from Barnes Gun Parts and will install that when it gets here. I'll clean and polish any parts that will help reduce the release weight. I'm looking for 2 pounds. I've read on other forums where gunsmiths have reworked these triggers to an 8 ounce release weight. I'm not looking for something like that. Only want a nice clean, crisp release weight of 2 pounds. Any help would be appreciated.
