I have three .270's. One wears a 3x9 Leupold VX-I. One wears an older Redfield 4x and the third wears an antique Weaver K4! Scope "power" is much less important than scope quality.. Spend a little extra for quality and you'll be set for life.

I took this 99 lbs. Doe with my Remington ML 50 Cal. rifle back in December of 2013. I was hunting with my BIL in Yellow Creek, Alabama.

My last buck and my biggest so far killed with my 700 in 243. 2-1/2 years old. Dressed out at 183. 20" inside spread. The rifle is at hart barrels now getting a 26" 260 barrel made and installed. I wish I could get more like this one but I have to take what I can get where I hunt. Amish on 3 sides and they WILL NOT give deer management a try. The year before I got this the guy across the road got a 26" 13 point that dressed 260. Sadly I missed him with my long bow.

Late start in life of hunting, 49 years young, my first year got a Rem 700, 308 with 26 bull barrel, Nikko Targetmaster scope. Is this to much gun for a new hunter. Hope to add a pic when season come in. Long season in SC. |
