I found this sight looking for info on my grandfathers 550-1. I live i NE married with three girls, I was in the guards for 17 years and love guns. One question I have is on the 550-1 I found out is a Nov 1954 gun, my question is should I have it restored or not? It's in pretty rough shape and would love to see it looking sharp again.

I did look the 550 series up. Nice looking gun. Was similar to the 550A but had a single extractor. Made from 1946-1970. About 220,000 produced. If not a serious collector model I would have it restored to it's former glory. Am sure it is a quality made piece.
