My new 11-87 worked great this weekend. Shot 75 3dram 1 1/8 ounce target loads on our sporting clays field. It was -1F too, when I bought the gun Tuesday I cleaned and lubed it properly and made sure it was assembled correctly. After shooting Saturday I came home to clean the gun and noticed some rather deep chatter marks along the inside of the reciever and barrel extension. Looks like from the locking bolt or bolt assembly, is this normal? Or anybody have any advice?

From what I have read on the net, this is a common thing that happens to the 11-87 as well as wear on the lock and barrel extension slot that the block engages.

I have two Remington Shotguns that exhibit that same kind of wear. Seems like there's a problem if you get wear in that area.
See photo ---> http://24.172.105.90/Remington/Rem%201187%20barrel%20extensions.jpg As well see the big lump at the back edge of the locking cut... Hmmmm Please elaborate. |

It's "normal". The locking block bounces a bit. 1100 does the same thing. The guns usually get the marks quickly, but then they don't progress much further. My '63 looks about like it did after a month or two, over 115,000 rounds later.
What could have happened... did.
