I need one of the knowledgeable to tell me if, the 783 and the x-7 Marlin bolt heads are the same. Also, are the extractors interchangeable, fireing pins, etc. I also need info on barrel OD, TPI, as understand they are 1.120x20TPI, but don't have one of the 783 to measure. I want to build a 300 wsm on a 783, using the mag 300win, in a 783. But i have a Marlin x-7, and in the future will not be able to buy extractors for it along with ejectors etc. The 783 win. Mag with a Shielan SS match hand lapped heavy sporter, 26" in 300wsm, should with 125 nosler pt. or Barnes 130 ttsx, reach 3650fps, or there about. Great white tail round out to 5-6-7-? Hundred yards. Any knowledge any on the board would be greatly appreciated

As I have learned from another sight, they are interchangeable, you can use the mag head if you want to. Haven't tryed it yet but will in the future. Right now I am putting a 300 wsm in the 783, Shilen match, 26 inch, stock?, a true 783 in wood, very good synthetic will be a real strong action " read" good shooter. Remington extractors might fit the Marlin, for you Marlin owner with X-7's. Don't know for sure but i suspect it.
