I was in a Cabelas a couple weeks ago and bought a Franchi Affinity 12-ga . But while I was there a salesman showed me a new WingMaster . I have not been familiar with the new WMs' made now but I always heard good news on the old WMs' from the past . Does anyone here have the new WM or has dealt with one lately ? Just wanting to know how well they are built now ? I have a 870 Express I have had a few years also in 12-ga .

As good as ever. Just different style and the different magazine cap retainer system.
What could have happened... did.

Good to know Virginian. For what a new Wingmaster 870 must cost it should be great quality. Just wish I could find a Special Field 20 with 23 inch tube that won't break the bank.

That's very good to know. Someone told me the new models the last year were not as good as the older models but I really didn't want to believe that ;) . Cabelas' has them for $699.99 which is really a good price if one can afford to go there . That is my next S/G on my wish list .

Thanks for the info on price ron. Actually does not sound too bad. I have a TB 1100 bought back in 80 new for around $335. Checked the price of a Competition 1100 online and almost fell out of my chair. Around $1300!!. No wonder used ones are often hard to find. And to think I always took walnut and high polish bluing for granted.

Actually, you can get a West stock set and put it on an 1100 and make your own "Competition" for much less. That's the big difference the adjustable stock system.
Now, I am sure someone has seen a problem with an 1100/Wingmaster/VersaMax or whatever besides the cheap finish on the earlier Expresses, but I am equally sure Remington will take care of you in one of these rare instances. When I was selling guns I saw everything including a new gun with no firing pin from a major manufacturer. Stuff happens and as long as they fix it I figure it's better than an air bag malfunction.
What could have happened... did.

Don't let this one knock you out of your chair . I checked this one out at Cabelas and this is nothing less than a pure beauty !!

Man you are tempting me. LOL Would like my meager collection to be all Remingtons of the older finish and over-all quality. A nice 20 gauge would look great and make a nice Upland Bird gun. Will check at Cabela's near me next month.
