Hello All,
New Member here. Just looking for a little Advice on a good scope for my Model 700 .308?
I'm looking to spend up to $500.00. I use the Rifle for Hunting as well as Long Distance
Target Shooting. This is my First Model 700 in .308 so I just wanted to see what suggestions you all could offer before I take the leap and make a purchase! Thanks for your help in advance!

What is the maximum yardage that you plan to shoot at?

I have the same rifle but in left hand. The accuracy is scary. I worked up a load last fall consisting of a Hornady 168 gr. BTHP Match with 43.0 grs. of IMR-4895. It will shoot 10 shots in one cluster at 100 yards, if I do my part, which usually I flub and cause a flyer. I just loaded today some 168 grain Hornady A-MAX loads to try. Target pic is 10 shots at a lasered 400 yards.
The cheap stock and factory trigger had to go. I put an H-S Precision Sendero stock and a Timney trigger that I have set to 1 3/4 lbs.
I looked at Vortex and Sightron scopes but ended up getting a Nikon 4-16x M-308 scope. I got it with the BDC reticle as I have become used to those on my Vortex and Leupold scopes. You can also get the Nikon with a standard duplex crosshair and elevation turret calibrated for the 168 grain bullet at 2650 fps. Both models come with a side focus turret for parallax/focus and all three turrets can be re set by pulling out the spring loaded cap and letting it snap back in to lock. Quick focus eyepiece , comes with a 20 MOA AR type one piece mount ( worth $100) which I sold to a friend so I can buy more of a bolt action type mount, and also comes with a ARD filter ( killflash). Just what I was looking for in an optic for my .308 without spending $1000 and up. It cost me $549 here in an oilfield boom town where everything is more expensive. I have seen them for $450 or so at places like Scheel's and Cabela's.

I just purchased today a 700 in SPSV 308. I too have a Nikon M-308 on my Model 750 308. I do like the scope but for the M700 I am thinking about a scope with a little more magnification. It will be a Nikon BDC for sure. Check out the DNZ one piece mount. They are made here in NC and I love them. I will be using the M700 in 308 for streached out speed goat shots. I have not shot it yet.
