Hello:
Is the 700P (Police) barrel a heavy one? I ask this, because some people say that "a heavy barrel, has to be the same contour from breech to muzzle", and this is not the case of the Police mode, as it´s a tapered one.
Greetings
Has Remington 700P (Police) a heavy barrel?

Hello, Shooter13:
Is there a way, in order to tell if my barrel is a heavy contour one or not? Greetings |

Best way would be to call Remington Customer service with the product number and serial number...they should be able to look it up right away for you.

The 700P has a Remington contour #7 either 1.125 or 1.250 at the action with a sharp tapper over the throat 5 inches or so and a gradual taper to .810 at the 11° target crown.
It is the same contour as the M24 M40 sniper rifle the remington Long Range series using the bell and Carlson stock but the M24 308 has a 24 inch barrel and the 300 win mag a 26" the 5R military spec also uses this contour. If you take the 1350$ 700P and change the stock from the H.S. Percission to the bell and call on stock which is fully allunimun railed and piller bedded same as the H.S. Percission you now has the Long Range series of Remington 700's for 799$ and acuallly the B&C stock is worth 400$ there is no difference in the performance of the rifle cause they are the same just the cost and name. I guess for that matter the serento series is the same except it is polished stainless with a fluted barrel all very good top notch shooters which are in my collection it just comes down to marketing and some cosmetics gotta love the remington 700 almost as interchangeable as the 10/22 but not quite lol Sent from my SM-G920W8 using Tapatalk Jason3gunsperfinger
