I received my 7400. So far it looks OK but for the front sight. Its broken. I was putting a scope on it but its still broken and the seller did not put any info about it being broken on the auction. I sent photos showing it was the same as in the auction and not damaged in freight. What is the value discount on a broken front sight? Is it worth fixing? What would it cost to fix? Thanks.

I would try Numrich Gun Parts for the front sight replacement...
http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ Not sure of the cost...but I would replace it anyway. Seems to be a dovetail...so replacing it should be easy as drifting it out with a punch and gunsmith hammer. I would also make sure that seller is given a bad rep at the auction site for selling it without mentioning the broken front sight. |

What is fair to ask for compensation? I asked for 60 dollars, 30 for a sight and 30 to have or put it on. He countered with 20 and sent a link to a 13 dollar front sight on ebay. I sent a message back that that is a front sight, and it leaves 7 dollars for a brass drift punch and the risk that I scratch or damage the gun. I counted back at 50 my last offer and I do what it takes to get the front sight replaced and if it is damaged its my problem. I think 50 is very fair. If I sent it back he would cost him 35 in shipping. |
