Folks,

My Remington 700 Police is factory screw threaded and with a slot for a sound moderator on my ticket I was wondering what type to buy (.308 winchester)?
Any ideas?

Are you referring to a suppressor...a can...a "silencer" so to speak...

Can you legally own them in the UK...?

Shooter,
Yes I'm referring to a "silencer" or sound moderator. You can legally own one if you have a valid reason (potential hearing damage being a good enough reason) you also need an available slot on a Firearm certificate specific for cal, sale or transfer is also restricted once purchased (if you don't like it you can not simply buy another type/manufacturer - you have to get it removed on a like for like variation with Firearms Dept!). I was thinking of ASE Jet-Z Compact in .30 Cal.

I find it interesting that despite your gun laws you can easily buy a suppressor because the sound of the gun may damage your ears and on this side of the pond we can easily get the gun but the suppressor requires a lot of money and government red tape.

Of it it just as difficult to get there there?
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.-Ronald Reagan

He must be having too much fun to reply, but it appears that four days from decision to delivery means that they either don't have a BATFE or theirs is a lot faster than ours. And I thought the three month turn around time that I got was good.

You can apply for both at the same time. Our laws work on the rule that if you are a good citizen and you have a valid reason you can have them.
Its relatively straight forward process only problem is it can be slow depending on what police region you live in.
